LeRoy Romero
LeRoy Romero is the Director of the Minority Business Office (MBO) and acts as an advocate for Colorado's minority business community. LeRoy began work with the state of Colorado in 1993 at the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) holding the positions of human resource consultant, coordinator for Small Business Development, Director of Diversity Programs and Director for External Affairs. As Director of External Affairs, one of his primary goals was to advocate for Minority Business Enterprise/Women Business Enterprise (MBE/WBEs) with the Auraria campus. Prior to his relocation to his native city of Denver, LeRoy spent 10 years in Boston, Massachusetts as an employment officer for two financial institutions, the Boston Company, and State Street Bank and Trust Company. LeRoy’s experience in higher education includes work at the University of Massachusetts/Harbor Campus and University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He also has performed postgraduate work at Boston College and the University of Massachusetts at Boston Harbor. LeRoy currently serves on the following boards: co-chair for the Society of Hispanic Human Resource Professionals (SHHRP), vice president of NEWSED and Santa Fe Drive Redevelopment Corporation. LeRoy has also served as a board member with the following organizations: Asian Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Business Council and the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado. In addition, he was a former Trustee of the Museo de las Americas. LeRoy has held membership with the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce and Rocky Mountain Indian Chamber of Commerce. LeRoy holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO.
