Like many photographers, I became interested in photography as a child, and I learned how to develop film and make prints in a darkroom long ago. As an adult, I’ve studied the intricacies of lighting, and made the leap into digital….
If you’re a business person, though, the question to ask of a photographer is not "How many years have you been shooting?," but rather, "How will the photographs you make set me—and my brand—apart?" I can help you answer that all-important second question.
For me, it’s simple: Along with my life-long love of photography, I have two degrees in Economics and an MBA—and I made professional use of those degrees for thirty years as a consultant and marketing executive. At the age of 27, I became a founding faculty member of the Regis University MBA program. In my corporate career, I worked for one of the world’s largest financial service companies and created their marketing research department, where we tested advertising concepts, effectiveness, and got measured results. In short, I know what makes an effective ad, and how to build a brand.
And so, instead of trying to explain to a photographer what you need for your brand image, I’ve found it much more effective to leverage my own marketing background and help you get the shot right - the first time. Since 2007, my photography clients have found me just as skilled behind the viewfinder as I am behind a desk.
I am on the Faculty at the Center For Innovation at Metropolitan State College Denver teaching a course called "Artrepreneurship" to give entrepreneurial training to students in the arts. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the National Center For Community Collaboration where we bring non-profits, businesses, government and interested individuals together to improve our communities.
